Hi I’m Jess and I want to share a little about myself and how I went from healthcare to Medical Aesthetics. I have spent many years in healthcare beginning as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care. I was inspired to go into nursing after my brother was severely injured in Iraq in 2004 and I wanted to help people and give back to others. After 5 years at the bedside in ICU, I continued my education and obtained a Masters Degree as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA). CRNAs provide anesthesia to patient undergoing surgery and do advanced procedures such as spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia and nerve blocks. As a CRNA for the past 8 years, I have worked in acute surgical services as an independent practitioner providing anesthesia services in Level One Trauma Centers, acute care hospitals and pain centers throughout Phoenix. I spent a year as Chief of Anesthesia at Arrowhead Hospital. I love the practice of anesthesia and still currently practice in the West Valley as I could never fully give up taking care of my patients in the hospital.
During all this time while providing advanced anesthesia care for my patients, I have always longed for space in the beauty industry. I was a dancer in high school and college and always loved beauty, fashion and this whole other world. On my breaks from anesthesia I love to watch watch makeup videos on Youtube and instagram. In the past I have struggled with skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and scarring (and now those pesky wrinkles) and I understand how issues like that can wreak havoc on your self esteem. I knew I wanted to somehow to combine my love of beauty and medicine but just wasn’t sure how. Over the past few years, I’ve started to see a huge increase in the demand for Medical Aesthetics in Phoenix and realized this is the perfect opportunity for me. I can use my medical skills and combine them with my love for beauty in the practice of Medical Aesthetics! That is how Flora Medspa came into being.
